Photoshoot
The shoot with model Cyrah Burrows was designed around the lavish and striking Festina Lente décor. Garments were chosen to either complement the dominant colour schemes or to blend in with the surrounding tones and textures. Photographic lighting was used only to enhance the ambient settings; creating moody scenes and somber shadows amplified by the model's demeanor of quiet reflection.
The photos were used to create additional work to support the photographer’s nomination before the voting and announcement of the Fashion Photographer of the year competition.
Migal Vanas is the recipient of the Fashion Photographer of the Year for 2019 awarded by Cape Town Experiences Magazine.

I read the book, “The Secret Garden” several times as a child. It was about little Mary Lennox -a spoilt bratty girl -whose parents’ death forced her to live in her uncle’s manor. On his estate was a walled garden that had been neglected and ruined. I loved the book and always wanted to find a garden so magical that every single tree could tell a tale of its own. This is exactly what Elna and Henrico have created in Hurlingham located just outside the Sandton business district.
